Most people going through the divorce process would like the details concerning their split to stay as private as possible. The majority of people want to keep their neighbors and the greater public out of the details regarding child custody or the valuation and distribution of assets. Yet, news sources often report information concerning high-asset divorces, often involving successful businesspeople such as brokers, entrepreneurs and CEOs. Whether it's the divorce itself, or the high value of the assets at stake, the public continues to be drawn to these divorces.

So, it's not surprising that a TV show will soon premiere a new show called "Divorce Wars". NBC reports that the show will go inside the confidential world of the divorces concerning millions of dollars to discover that the bitter conflicts are about more than money.

While the new show will probably involve significant exaggeration and overdrawn drama, it certainly will give Americans an inside look at a process that typically involves a lot of privacy. Presumably, it will require voluntary participation of the spouses involved to make for an interesting television show. Typically, when a divorce reaches stages of litigation, the declarations of the parties become public, as well as the final divorce decree. However, parties don't declare their underlying resentment and any ulterior motives to the court. While a television show may broadcast this content, it is not an aspect of divorce that is usually within the public eye.

While some divorces play out in divorce litigation, many are settled out-of-court because of the high expenses and involved and the privacy of the issues involved. However, high-asset divorces often involve litigation because the more wealth there is, the more the complexity involved.
